Who's Running?
Who's Running? MI
Our Mission:
Make every voter an informed voter.

Who's Running? was built to make local democracy easier to navigate. Every election, Michigan voters face a ballot full of names they've never heard of, and too often, the races that affect daily life the most are the ones voters know the least about. We're here to put clear, non-partisan information about every candidate in one place, so that voting the entire ballot feels informed instead of overwhelming, while allowing candidates to offer voters more information about themselves, their campaign, and their stances on the issues voters care about.

Founder, Who's Running?

Hi, I'm Tim, the founder of Who's Running? and a lifelong Michigander. I grew up in Dexter, Michigan, with a knack for history and politics. I attended college in Grand Rapids, graduating with a double major in both History and Political Science. Throughout my time in college, I voted in two major elections, and while I'm someone who is fairly knowledgeable on national politics, there were a ton of local candidates on my ballot that I just didn't know anything about. County commissioners, judges, school board candidates, and I really had no idea who any of them were or what they stood for.

Fast forward a few years: after graduating from college, I began to work in Michigan politics, and would travel across the state, going out to various political events and party meetings. While traveling, I would often talk with the people I'd meet and came to realize that lots of voters faced the same problem I did when voting; they weren't knowledgeable about the local candidates who appeared on their ballot. I also learned that a lot of local candidates had a hard time reaching local voters.

That's where Who's Running? comes in. Over the past year, I've been working on building a platform for voters and candidates alike, helping voters become more informed, and helping candidates get their message out to voters. Our mission, put simply, is to make every voter an informed voter. Thank you for checking out Who's Running?, and doing your part to help us fulfill our mission, one voter at a time.

Our Non-Partisan Commitment

Who's Running? does not endorse candidates, parties, or policy positions. Every candidate registered with the Michigan Bureau of Elections gets the same free basic listing, and every candidate is eligible for the same premium profile at the same price.

The candidate directory on this site is a factual reference, not editorial. We don't rank, rate, or recommend candidates, and we don't publish attack content about anyone running for office. The words on a premium profile are the candidate's own, and our review process and content guidelines apply the same way regardless of party, ideology, office, or whether a candidate has paid.

If you ever feel we've fallen short of this commitment, write to us. We'll look into it, and if we got it wrong, we'll fix it.
